This week has been testing, but very fulfilling at the same time. I have a few major accomplishments that I was able to achieve this week. First, I eclipsed 17 months of sobriety and secondly the State of Michigan approved me to get my restricted driver's license, something that I have been without for around 18 years. The latter would most definitely never have been possible if the prior didn't happen. The fact that I was never sober when looking at the stacks of paperwork needed to even start the process of getting my license is definitely a large contributing factor in the length of time without driving privileges. Along with these major achievements, I also read an entire book in 24 hours, wrote a 1300, 6-page paper corresponding to the book, was able to make a new weekly ritual of playing some board games with a group of great people, and took my kids to the Great Wolf Lodge. Granted I had a lot more free time this week due to my regular place of employment was shut down for a week while the owners went and visited family in Mexico. It was a great week to have off and opened up my availability to catch back up on things. Blessings come when you least expect it.
All the struggles I have put myself through in the past, the current overload of things on my plate, and the freedom opened up in my future are all directly influenced from the gratitude I have today. I am able to sit back today and look at where I am, where I came from and the possibilities of the future. The future is wide-open and for someone who never expected to have a future or that I would live in the same repetitious mistakes of my past, my own purgatory. I still think that things are too good to be true from time to time, but I just sit back and realize the work I've put in to make these dreams a reality and actually, truly feel like I deserve this. I wouldn't be where I am without all the support I have received from friends, family and all the support of the community. I have nothing more to say other than I am truly blessed and thank you all.
Heck ya buddy! Living the dream
