The Time I Lost It.

It's fair to say I'm a late bloomer. I lost it later than most. But I thought about losing it and an analogy I just had to share came to mind.
Think about when you lost it.. Were you good at it? Did you leave the others involved satisfied?
If you're anything like me, the answer to that is resounding NO.
BUT, THERE'S HOPE...
The facts of life are that we all lose it, and it's rarely a pretty sight. But, after we get to try again, we get a little better. Every attempt gives us a bit more experience as we feel out where things are and how things work.
You have to give yourself grace when you lose it. Chances are you're not going to handle the situation well, there may be some clean up after, losing it can be messy, and remember that it's okay to cry if you need to. We all handle these situations differently, some better than others.

Having the courage to try something new can be scary. Think about learning to ride a bike. We all sucked that first time, but after practice and experience it becomes second nature. It's going to be hard when it happens again, and that's okay. One thing I've learned is that it always gets hard, all that matters is how you handle it.
As adults, we can forget what first times are like and get anxiety if we need to try or start something new. But just like in recovery, year 1 can't happen without a day 1, then day 2, day 3, etc.. Remind yourself, after you lose it, you're going to be better next time, and the time after.
You'll be a pro in no time.
